Original Happily Ever After Folding Story Diorama
Original Happily Ever After Folding Story Diorama
This unique folding story diorama is painted on a pair of folding boxes designed to resemble a book, with a tiny latch to keep the story inside, depending on how you choose to display it. The front “cover” has a painting of our heroine and her raccoon companion at the beginning of their adventure. They’re taking an unusual route home, and will stumble upon the home of a mysterious old woman who just happens to have a quest and a ready-to-hatch dragon egg for them (what a coincidence, so convenient!). When you open the folding panel, you’ll find the middle of the story depicted as a pair of layered paper dioramas, created with multiple layers of hand cut paper. Here, you’ll find the path taken by the heroine and her companions, ultimately leading them towards the castle, where they’ll discover the heroine is (of course) the long-lost princess and will have to fight a battle or win a competition or something equally epic in order for the newly-not-lost princess to ascend to the throne. Since every story needs a happily ever after, the back panel of our story shows the heroine-turned-princess-turned-queen reading a book while her dragon naps and the mischievous raccoon builds a tower of cards on the dragon’s nose.
Each individual panel measures approximately 3x3x1”, so the diorama measures about 3x6x1” when open and 3x3x2” when closed.
Painted with acrylic gouache and finished with a satin varnish on the front and back.
